In a profoundly deceitful statement, Antony Blinken, head of U.S. State Department, said: "Corrupt acts of former Honduran President Lobo undermined democracy in Honduras. … We stand #UnitedAgainstCorruption with our partners in Honduras."

The four men – Garifuna land defenders - were forcibly disappeared from their families and community by agents of the military-backed, drug-trafficking Honduran government that (ever since the 2009 coup ousted Honduras’ last democratically elected government) maintains full economic and military relations with the US, Canada and European Union, World Bank, IDB and IMF, and many global companies and investors.

This is how hard justice is in Honduras, controlled by the U.S. and Canadian-backed corrupt, military-supported regime. The intellectual authors and financial backers of this assassination, in all likelihood members of the wealthy Atala Zablah family, remain free.

July 1, 2021 is another good day for truth-telling about land theft, genocide and crimes against humanity, inside and beyond Canada’s borders. And “Stealing Children To Steal The Land”, a comprehensive report from The Intercept and hosted by Naomi Klein, should perhaps be required listening/reading for all Canadians.

June 27 and 28 are bitter dates in Guatemalan and Honduran history, when the U.S. and Canada (and other actors in the “international community”) supported violent regime change interventions that, for decades now, have had devastating consequences for the majority populations of both countries.
