Help Bear Witness to the Genocide in Palestine

Rights Action adds our name to the vast list of people across the U.S., Canada, and the world that can’t bear the destruction, mass killing and suffering caused by Israel’s genocide of Palestine and the Palestinian people.

Our genocide: This live-streamed genocide is armed, funded, politically supported and ‘legitimized’ by the U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, England, France, Italy & much of Western Europe.

As Rights Action funding and activism work continues in support of long-time partner groups in Guatemala and Honduras, we invite folks to learn about the Witness Gaza Project, initiated by Rebecca Cutter and her Palestinian friend Mohammad Alatar. Some of Rights Action’s work overlaps with work Rebecca is involved with in the Achi region of Rabinal, one of four Mayan regions in Guatemala that suffered genocides, 1978-1983, planned and carried out by the U.S. and Western-backed regimes in power at that time.

Is the Genocide in Palestine Eating at Your Soul?
Help bear witness to such suffering and painful resistance

How can we bear witness to such suffering and remain silent? We invite you to join and help support this creative collaboration with my friend Palestinian documentary filmmaker Mohammad Alatar, to shed light on the genocide in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, through support for Palestinian photographers telling the story through their eyes.

Mohammad Alatar is leading a team of Palestinian photo journalists who are risking their very lives to document the genocide and systematic destruction of Gaza.

Your contribution will allow them to create a compelling series of photographs for exhibition in the U.S. and a short educational video that you can help us share through your social media.

Despite Israel’s blockade of water, food, and medical supplies, we have a critical chance to support these storytellers. Our goal is to amplify their voices and images, join the global movement to end the blockade, and send life-saving aid to Palestinians.

We urge you to contribute whatever you can to this project and to raise further awareness.

Donations will be directed to Palestinian photographers to help ensure their safety and survival during this critical moment as they capture the realities of the ongoing genocide. They are showing the world the truth of what is happening on the ground, so no one can say they didn’t know.

What Inspired This Collaboration?

Fifteen years ago, I met Mohammad Alatar at an Israeli checkpoint after returning from the West Bank, where I was working at the time. It was dusk when the driver left me off at the Israel-Jordan border. I presented my US passport, and after questioning, the Israeli soldiers refused my entry into Jordan. With no means of communication or transport, I was stranded. I felt powerless, angry, and scared.

A man entered the checkpoint, and once he was cleared, he intervened on my behalf, helping to negotiate my crossing. I am forever grateful for that chance encounter. During our drive to Amman, I learned about his amazing work as a Palestinian human rights activist and documentary filmmaker, and we formed a lasting friendship.

Mohammad and I have kept in touch since. In a recent conversation, we discussed our impotence in the face of this genocide. That conversation inspired this project.

Mohammad's films, which include The Iron Wall (2006), Jerusalem: The East Side Story (2007), and Broken (2018), expose the harsh realities of occupied Palestine and the struggle for self-determination.

Follow Mohammad’s Inspirational Social Media

His beautifully written social media posts offer profound insights, reminding us that "this isn’t just about Gaza; it’s about our shared humanity and the collective responsibility to resist capitalism-driven brutality."

Currently residing in the West Bank, Mohammad is working on a film about Israeli settlements. This project is not affiliated with any organization. We are two friends committed to providing urgent support to Palestinians on the ground. We believe that financial assistance is a crucial lifeline for people risking their lives to document the reality of the genocide unfolding before the eyes of the world.

100% of your donations support Palestinians in sharing their experience. The final product, a photo exhibition and a short educational video to share on your social media, is aimed primarily at educating Americans.
