Rights Action recommends listening to a very moving 59 minute This American Life (TAL) radio report “What Happened At Dos Erres?” (May 25, 2012http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/465/what-happened-at-dos-erres) that describes a particular massacre in Guatemala – the Dos Erres [Dos–Errez] massacre of some 200 people in 1982; the report describes courageous efforts in Guatemala, since the mid-1990s, to seek truth and justice for this massacre.

On May 22 and 23 a delegation of human rights activists from the United States organized by Rights Action and Alliance for Global Justice visited the community of Ahuás in the Moskitia region of Honduras. The group inquired into the May 11, 2012 massacre of indigenous Miskito people by gunfire from U.S. State Department - titled helicopters that the US government confirms carried U.S. DEA agents and security contractors.

On Friday, May 18 at approximately 7:30pm, Jose Efrain Del Cid, a member of the Nueva Panama Campesino Business, one of the 14 campesino organizations that make up the Campesino Movement of the Aguan on the Left Bank (MUCA-MI), was shot while sitting in a car in the municipality of Sonaguera, Colon.

Honduran journalist Alfredo Villatoro has been found dead on the outskirts of the capital, Tegucigalpa, a week after he was abducted. Mr Villatoro, a radio reporter, was dressed in a police uniform, Security Minister Pompeyo Bonilla said. He had been kidnapped by a gang of young men on his way to work on 9 May.
